"My Way Home" - Kanye West
Yeah
I'm on my way home
They say home is where the hate is
My dome is where fate is
I stroll where souls get lost like vegas
Seen through the eyes of rebel glasses
Pray to god that my arms reach the masses
The young smoke grass in grassless jungles
Rubberband together in cashless bundles
We wear struggling chains
Divided only hustle remains
Making sense of it we hustle for change
Revolution ain't a game
It's another name
For life fighting
Someone to stay in they corner like Mike Tyson
Hypes fighting for hits to heighten they hell
Don't he know he only get as high as he fell
Show money becomes bail
Relationships become jail
Children are unheld
I wish love was for sale
Behold the pale
Horse got me trapped like r. kel', I bail and it-
Might not be such a bad idea if I never, never went home again
I'm on my way home
I left three days ago
But no one seems to know I'm gone
Home is where the hatred is
Home is filled with pain and it
Might not be such a bad idea if I never
Never went home again.
Question:
Paraphrase "My Way Home" and explain the meaning of this poem using textual support and literary devices to support your interpretation.
IN the poem, Kanye is stating that he is on his way home. He is filled with so many emotions on his way home. "my dome is where my fate is", meaning what is next for him. He also states that "They say home is where the hate is", which explains why he later says it might be better if he never goes home. He feels as it wouldn't make a difference if he went home or not. The text proves this when it says "But no one seems to know I'm gone. He says he left three days ago and who is home doesn't seem to know he isn't present. He say he had been gone for three days now and it might not be a bad idea if he doesn't go home again.
ReplyDeletein Kanye's "My Way Home", he is stating that he is on his way home but doesn't feel as if it really matters if he is home or not. Kanye states, "might not be such a bad idea if I never, never went home again", meaning he feels as if he is tied down to certain constraints and life is not how it should be. He has only left 3 days ago and he states, "But no one seems to know I'm gone", this could be a realization that is hometown isn't looking forward to seeing him come home because they probably think Kanye has let the fame and money change him. Instead of having to go home to all the hatred and judgement, he feels as if shouldn't return home.

ReplyDeleteMy way home is a poem talking about kanye west way back home because in the text he states "Might not be such a bad idea if I never, never went home again
ReplyDeleteI'm on my way home
I left three days ago
But no one seems to know I'm gone". By that he means he left and he's trying to come back but no one realized that he left in the first place, so he feels like its no need for him to return.

In this poem Kanye starts of seeming as if he were away from his original home and wants to go back. He feels very strongly about making his way "home",Pray to God that my arms reach the masses. In other words he is saying he prays that he is strong enough to make it home. The hidden subject is that Kanye is really looking for a better life and better home. "Might not be such a bad idea if I never, never went home again". Now that Kanye has rapped his way to fame he dosen't have to live in proverty anymore. "They say home is where the hate is"
